I had never made a quilt before, but it was on my 2013 resolution list to make one top to bottom. So, I made two.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHCQDU8T_ABUr1QH2j0Mb6GjB4d13GBgaRguZORMcr_BDl6yAh19E-77wtFbEJJcO37pnDC3EPmgnx-JDWsB42B-XGu3VQMKNWR9SjQUhfWHdbKaoAgtQ2NhaJ-qwRgBpLRNtw89CPuMU/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHCQDU8T_ABUr1QH2j0Mb6GjB4d13GBgaRguZORMcr_BDl6yAh19E-77wtFbEJJcO37pnDC3EPmgnx-JDWsB42B-XGu3VQMKNWR9SjQUhfWHdbKaoAgtQ2NhaJ-qwRgBpLRNtw89CPuMU/s1600/photo+1.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
The first was a Jelly Roll Race Quilt. I got a jelly roll of a really cute line from Riley Blake called "Saddle Up" and I used the girly colorways from it and then mixed in some Kona solids to break it up and add to it. I didn't do any sashing because I didn't know how yet, but I think it turned out ok anyway.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9nkrWFNloOlrp1LYmwtXKersYpBsa0jNQbiGknOVgBJpS0_NmGeX3TeJ0V4cYufmfpjEz2Qp8_uciCW8OCIJkEpZ5ggwe0phBHmiZfZOqZxBGquHVrUCxw2jJ0-Tg5V4DfKQf9ImS3tY/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9nkrWFNloOlrp1LYmwtXKersYpBsa0jNQbiGknOVgBJpS0_NmGeX3TeJ0V4cYufmfpjEz2Qp8_uciCW8OCIJkEpZ5ggwe0phBHmiZfZOqZxBGquHVrUCxw2jJ0-Tg5V4DfKQf9ImS3tY/s1600/photo+2.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
I used a Denyse Schmidt that I got at Jo-Ann's for the back and I just did some straight line quilting to add some bulk to it. This was the first time I used my walking foot, too. I used pre-fab quilt binding and hated it so now I only make my own binding.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkZmJo7TJT1MmojGgSvsnnwp9TRaLsRuzK8Mw29xDzOkY2acC1O_kdJsUpd3BvTSZi3tmCXPFzQuEUUxb32OjxrOpjXPaRs4zZrzjCdUCJDB3f-jMnATuABM3RoMJUdslC1Oy7j_IRMAM/s1600/photo+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkZmJo7TJT1MmojGgSvsnnwp9TRaLsRuzK8Mw29xDzOkY2acC1O_kdJsUpd3BvTSZi3tmCXPFzQuEUUxb32OjxrOpjXPaRs4zZrzjCdUCJDB3f-jMnATuABM3RoMJUdslC1Oy7j_IRMAM/s1600/photo+3.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I also added a little label that I made from grosgrain ribbon and fabric ink and stamps.<br />
<br />
The second quilt I made was from a pattern called On The Boardwalk by It's Sew Emma. My cousin used it for her niece's quilt and I loved it so much I asked for some help to make one for my longest friend's first baby.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmp3-Fchxj5qgRzo_6e0AnNaEmvRRM8ZRrbqJoxdLIDlvALVnicJ9UoS7M3GXNeTtDzDarJGTsuarhaOPRrCJmXdYMQ8ZqAupgUdH_LT1k-rdqdFY35kU2Dmx1ibND9vBlfnVphivFOsM/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmp3-Fchxj5qgRzo_6e0AnNaEmvRRM8ZRrbqJoxdLIDlvALVnicJ9UoS7M3GXNeTtDzDarJGTsuarhaOPRrCJmXdYMQ8ZqAupgUdH_LT1k-rdqdFY35kU2Dmx1ibND9vBlfnVphivFOsM/s1600/photo+4.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
The fabric I used was a FQ stack of the Mo Willems' Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus (from the Fat Quarter Shop - love them!). My friend and I are big readers and baby E is going to be too. This is one of my favorite children's stories so I jumped at the chance to use the fabric. (My mom gave the book at the shower so she got a bag with the quilt, its pillows, and books.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAxqn3AtktENeBlmBw4pJlSIcThIxP40y_J31fqaphfIlQVYY7fWXt3580vAotCP6JQMdVD8aGmVFLWpspsyiySUyT2YtrOKBXi8cQcFK8Kn_syHVgyDeYMgFXlNYWL8VqHg14Aitx0KM/s1600/photo+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAxqn3AtktENeBlmBw4pJlSIcThIxP40y_J31fqaphfIlQVYY7fWXt3580vAotCP6JQMdVD8aGmVFLWpspsyiySUyT2YtrOKBXi8cQcFK8Kn_syHVgyDeYMgFXlNYWL8VqHg14Aitx0KM/s1600/photo+5.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
I used the multi panel from the stack for the backing - it was a tight squeeze, but I was determined to make it work. I did straight line quilting long the boxes on the front and bound it with a dot print (by whom, I now forget).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnvJFyFbBgopvG83wgnncetXtG1X_d5kNMcTxjV_APVDxD5vSCZ7MAfLitq4Km2v4zlZaDkN3C7hDFqA3JvgNB_5o6IhMgRXVZ2wSrRyadDi7SGHfeRrovObH_7i5Qiaxuf48O_XguJiw/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnvJFyFbBgopvG83wgnncetXtG1X_d5kNMcTxjV_APVDxD5vSCZ7MAfLitq4Km2v4zlZaDkN3C7hDFqA3JvgNB_5o6IhMgRXVZ2wSrRyadDi7SGHfeRrovObH_7i5Qiaxuf48O_XguJiw/s1600/photo+2.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
Along with the fabric was a panel that had two pillows and a hand puppet. I made them all pillows, though. I used some of the leftover fabric from that panel for one of the pieces on the front. (Thanks to my girl Yvette for helping me with all the cutting - I never would have finished it!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg254gOyn6Jrt-t43W05T4NLKNhhwePNMB49zbqrdRKBQNhamzSsQBQBNqRWqexR24s6IprbA28ciPzKwaQVkfvDRF71MDd359qt81lJzrpfrVOH_g5omYkqEc4NSAzQZ1m9t8qcjs_egQ/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg254gOyn6Jrt-t43W05T4NLKNhhwePNMB49zbqrdRKBQNhamzSsQBQBNqRWqexR24s6IprbA28ciPzKwaQVkfvDRF71MDd359qt81lJzrpfrVOH_g5omYkqEc4NSAzQZ1m9t8qcjs_egQ/s1600/photo+4.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
So, there you have it. Two baby quilts done. I'll do another post about my Lorax Quilt and the one that I've got in the works now. I also did a tshirt quilt (which, coincidentally, is the largest quilt I've ever made) so I'll post about that one too.<br />
<br />

I know it's been forever since we've blogged here. Life got crazy and we just went with the flow! We're both hoping to get back into the swing of things after our little 'vacation' and to get things started I'm going to share a little project I worked on this weekend. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My coworker and I were using a plain envelope for our petty cash and it was terrible at holding the change, so I told her I'd make a little zip pouch and embroider 'petty cash' on the outside. She didn't think I'd actually do it, but I did. So here's a little bag for our petty cash stash.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJMMsEL01l_lZv4-eq7XOCPXqwsYJt4r1IIzkYuxEMGJJmcnFEHkTxtfmM2gzux4R0iStO_axnN3Ulch7JH780J0vv6LBFWNBA1RZazQSJgDipLV5Qszsjw3UauNycrXUM2AReMFdEP_A/s1600/DSC_0013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJMMsEL01l_lZv4-eq7XOCPXqwsYJt4r1IIzkYuxEMGJJmcnFEHkTxtfmM2gzux4R0iStO_axnN3Ulch7JH780J0vv6LBFWNBA1RZazQSJgDipLV5Qszsjw3UauNycrXUM2AReMFdEP_A/s640/DSC_0013.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I used fabrics that were in my fabric stash, a zipper that was given to me by a friend, and I used two different fonts for the embroidery. I used a stem stitch for 'petty' and a whip stitch for 'cash.' This was the first time I did a whip stitch that much and I think it turned out well!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLnI0E8Vn7SOMEEQx3c546abj_LzIN8L8dO0SNaG37es107q2yQZ0uACLaXMnjF4x5vYnTHoefNkvuqwDlmUxwGq5H4YsNb9PFexCuowgfsIfhOV4g9giY4EqYSI0UbyULIaQkpMgdnZI/s1600/DSC_0015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLnI0E8Vn7SOMEEQx3c546abj_LzIN8L8dO0SNaG37es107q2yQZ0uACLaXMnjF4x5vYnTHoefNkvuqwDlmUxwGq5H4YsNb9PFexCuowgfsIfhOV4g9giY4EqYSI0UbyULIaQkpMgdnZI/s640/DSC_0015.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
The bag is just a simple zip pouch, but I really need to look at <a href="http://www.sewdelicious.com.au/2012/04/trouble-with-zips.html" target="_blank">those tutorials for better zipper corners</a> - mine are terrible! Oh well, it serves its purpose. :)<br />

(If you follow us on instagram @brandiscardina & @meigheyburn you'll see all kinds of things we make for ourselves and others - including some sneak peeks!) I put this on my personal blog this weekend, but wanted to post here, too!<br />
<br />
You may remember<a href="http://craftygsquared.blogspot.com/2012/08/london-calling.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> this pouch</a> I made to put my notary supplies in, I loved it but not enough.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp2SHdrR0T2xDueLw3K1U3u281OcakrsbRIqMRshWmISypReulu_5xgrkWIzUr7euj1ZqgeInx1MwuanKNXiwzRCAwgeXRSK1H61NSA4nDDPiXSAt_lTAYgprveHJrKMXstKfYdgR3q_8/s640/DSC_0001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp2SHdrR0T2xDueLw3K1U3u281OcakrsbRIqMRshWmISypReulu_5xgrkWIzUr7euj1ZqgeInx1MwuanKNXiwzRCAwgeXRSK1H61NSA4nDDPiXSAt_lTAYgprveHJrKMXstKfYdgR3q_8/s640/DSC_0001.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
It was my first attempt using a zipper and I found this <a href="http://www.hawthornethreads.com/fabric/designer/julia_rothman/type" target="_blank">AWESOMEST FABRIC IN THE WORLD</a> that I wanted to use for that very same purpose. I also found a fat quarter stack at my <a href="http://crimsontate.com/" target="_blank">very favorite (not-quite-so-local) quilt shop</a>. Thankfully, it was in their <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/CrimsonTate" target="_blank">Etsy</a> store so I could snag it for myself! And since I would be visiting soon, my lovely cousin picked it up for me (she really is the best) and saved me some shipping and got an excuse to wander into the loveliness that is <a href="http://crimsontate.com/" target="_blank">Crimson Tate :: Modern Quilter</a>.<br />

(Dear Julia Rothman: you captured the essence of my daily grind and made it pretty. THANK YOU.)<br />
<br />
Anywho, since I made up those awesome stockings for Christmas (that I'll blog about later - promise!) I have been <i>obsessed</i> with the quilt as you go (qayg) technique. Thanks <a href="http://imaginegnats.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-falling-flakes-stocking-tutorial.html" target="_blank">Rachael</a>!<br />

<br />
I pulled some choice cuts and used fusible fleece for interfacing, which with a bag this size made turning a bit cumbersome, but I love the way it holds shape so well. I used a tutorial from <a href="http://prettymodern.typepad.com/its_a_pretty_modern_life/2009/08/zippered-box-pouch-pattern-and-tutorial-fully-lined-with-photos.html" target="_blank">Pretty Modern</a>.<br />

<br />
This bag is PERFECTION. My seal and stamp fit in it just perfectly, and being a legal assistant, every day I use paper clips, a typewriter (well, maybe not every day, but we do actually still use a typewriter and a fax machine - <b>old school, baby</b>), pens, and now...glasses. Yep, I've had to get glasses. Oh well.<br />

My life is a little crazy sometimes so I might only get 15 minutes of craft time in little bursts. This is something I made that took about 5 minutes!<br />
<br />
Family Dollar has these coasters for $1 and greeting cards for $1. I had the Mod Podge on hand so this project cost me only $2.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIiq_QY9iUMFqaB9cjfNjagsy96zuw7qdI_HgVThElSAWH65iURyUMfgVkGNuiYiOQsD9w3N6JtF8xEgj5i_W1QQHF5W5qP6RZksPG8N35JnSmo8inyW-QxqeYXDU6LMgvwQPgWML28iCf/s1600/DSCF6625.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIiq_QY9iUMFqaB9cjfNjagsy96zuw7qdI_HgVThElSAWH65iURyUMfgVkGNuiYiOQsD9w3N6JtF8xEgj5i_W1QQHF5W5qP6RZksPG8N35JnSmo8inyW-QxqeYXDU6LMgvwQPgWML28iCf/s400/DSCF6625.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First I decided which part of the card I wanted to show on my coaster.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2kvIEd_uFfadQA0hzaULJJV6ULzIhxfr2ketmdb8JD5oyBBalUn5NMZI1_OVnE_cdNvJJmd0DG-k885azkDDwE2l2RyawfsxV2xm9kBahtmIdK9uJDNEyq6PEcqxbYM4JZVdd-_nycxgf/s1600/DSCF6626.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2kvIEd_uFfadQA0hzaULJJV6ULzIhxfr2ketmdb8JD5oyBBalUn5NMZI1_OVnE_cdNvJJmd0DG-k885azkDDwE2l2RyawfsxV2xm9kBahtmIdK9uJDNEyq6PEcqxbYM4JZVdd-_nycxgf/s400/DSCF6626.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I laid my coaster on top of my card and used a craft knife to cut around it. You want to cut it a tiny bit smaller than your coaster so that you don't have part of your card hanging off. You want it to cover just the top of your coaster.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMnBZNjHFQx2-3a1bN0SBt1GAzToJL_oWoUBg8aWpD9D-0ky6SVJQ7IcF6I_5MOY9goQNu0K9DF9DkGDed4HZmuC1LNT-pFbitCfgWFJKvdiiJvUtrRGdTnJrTE2wjTxPGX1gIWx_hbrIQ/s1600/DSCF6628.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMnBZNjHFQx2-3a1bN0SBt1GAzToJL_oWoUBg8aWpD9D-0ky6SVJQ7IcF6I_5MOY9goQNu0K9DF9DkGDed4HZmuC1LNT-pFbitCfgWFJKvdiiJvUtrRGdTnJrTE2wjTxPGX1gIWx_hbrIQ/s400/DSCF6628.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Put a thin layer of Mod Podge on the tile.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmvwJPq5k40Ox0ucjBS5GYlPgZm6E4RKZzIWIf4obv1slUq7tsw3XPJBiXGoSYowHtdTqPylMXKkCAAUUE6m3kzKCc9Oaku7plS7cPZfuV3SMbViBQRhXXt2OV7iBEKeOkxy5O15a8P6x7/s1600/DSCF6629.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmvwJPq5k40Ox0ucjBS5GYlPgZm6E4RKZzIWIf4obv1slUq7tsw3XPJBiXGoSYowHtdTqPylMXKkCAAUUE6m3kzKCc9Oaku7plS7cPZfuV3SMbViBQRhXXt2OV7iBEKeOkxy5O15a8P6x7/s400/DSCF6629.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Place your card on top and add another layer of Mod Podge. I let that dry a day and put another coat on again. Done!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It seems like when one of us finds a good thing, we both make at least one and then probably more than that. That is just one of the benefits to being in business and sewing with your best friend - you can find things you know they would like and that you like too and check out the different spins you each put on them (check out our <a href="http://craftygsquared.blogspot.com/2012/07/the-purse-we-wont-stop-making.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">purse we made a bunch of</a>, too).<br />
<br />
In this case, it's the open wide zipper pouch from the Noodlehead tutorial. Have you seen her site? It's AWESOME. We love all her tutorials and patterns (I got a <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/54169359@N05/7698000998/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">241 tote</a> in a swap I recently participated in).<br />
<br />
Ok, enough jibber-jabber, on to the good stuff:<br />
<br />
First: two of my friends were going on a cruise so I wanted to make them some travel pouches. Aimee LOVES Halloween so I picked two really cool prints and alternated them (the b&w is sparkly!).<br />

My brother, sister, dad, and I all went in to get my mom a new sewing machine for her birthday and Brandi made her this bee pouch to go along with the gift. My mom *loves* The Secret Life of Bees and ever since that book came out, we've always gotten her bee things. :)<br />

This time I used a simple pattern for the one (same as<a href="http://craftygsquared.blogspot.com/2012/08/my-first-dress-using-pattern.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> this one</a> that Brandi made) and made up a pattern for the other using her measurements and what she wanted it to look like.<br />
<br />
We were going to take pictures outside and then drink wine, but we accidentally did things in the reverse order so it was too dark for outside pictures - so this is what we've got. :) Plus, we were being goofy.<br />

This is the same customer who won the basket of goodies that we donated to my church for the missions auction. We were raising money to be used for the church mission work (both within and without, including the group I visit Mexico with each year) and Brandi and I donated a basket for the auction. She was <b>determined</b> to take it home. Now THAT is dedication! :)<br />
<br />
I hope you're having a great week!<br />

Originally this was going to be a hoodie for Julie but since she was sleeping while I was sewing I couldn't try t on as I went. I was using one of her store bought shirts as a pattern and I made the sleeves too tight.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnR2CohTlnaS0PyT_5Lct7SfvW7xCyrefbk2dCDEnaSMrHjaCuA5YCKEGidkkwGTjZCaSVQiDgBOJ5JCVUmp1jgVZP3c7dnpUuIiJPpszP9esd7phfH3BD1kPqQw0um8A4V7wPp-inzCj4/s1600/DSCF6684.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnR2CohTlnaS0PyT_5Lct7SfvW7xCyrefbk2dCDEnaSMrHjaCuA5YCKEGidkkwGTjZCaSVQiDgBOJ5JCVUmp1jgVZP3c7dnpUuIiJPpszP9esd7phfH3BD1kPqQw0um8A4V7wPp-inzCj4/s640/DSCF6684.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Instead of just scrapping the whole thing I turned it into a hooded cowel. Perfect!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgABcDkZ0yKTUH98KvtEkgLsiZavEKmUT-Rm3zA2bFcKWHB9dJfqIX6wztXOC-lyd0gY4VXj6M-3uqZ1bNWlLlnio8RAuXsS41mDOfMfTmgWeygA5hFigf3DtlB6cF60hHeyiuy6Myi3Wne/s1600/DSCF6683.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgABcDkZ0yKTUH98KvtEkgLsiZavEKmUT-Rm3zA2bFcKWHB9dJfqIX6wztXOC-lyd0gY4VXj6M-3uqZ1bNWlLlnio8RAuXsS41mDOfMfTmgWeygA5hFigf3DtlB6cF60hHeyiuy6Myi3Wne/s640/DSCF6683.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
It got me thinking, I bet if she had a hoodie she has grown out of I could easily make one of these with it to get a little more life out of it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR85_Hi76jG-AFqWzA_DxEP_6MeCg9xgQ_xeu5dWBljJu1zh5ItMkJ3MM2ViaQ5vq62CF2SaluwHm16a7zFxvqlgPLIBu3F0HxFZOGmUghWByqT1v_H43xezo1WbV3DrOSiSjKDIyovxmF/s1600/DSCF6681.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR85_Hi76jG-AFqWzA_DxEP_6MeCg9xgQ_xeu5dWBljJu1zh5ItMkJ3MM2ViaQ5vq62CF2SaluwHm16a7zFxvqlgPLIBu3F0HxFZOGmUghWByqT1v_H43xezo1WbV3DrOSiSjKDIyovxmF/s640/DSCF6681.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I trimmed it with lace and she loves it and that makes me happy. We got her new coat at Old Navy over the weekend, they had a sale it was only $15!<br />
<br />

I made a few little gifts for a boss/friend at work for her wedding. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVJfKKo4sUBV9qbIQ3qjW0Gt1qZ0yU_EHriT5qhP4ok1i6E_eN9jD6uaEY2vZ8Vep3-7AXILz75G_m41mKXiV2E4WYwWG2LK7HEst-Oe-Nzmf9SWqgfY1JCEfmzBTj2e_0gH7z8O91toIr/s1600/DSCF6518.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVJfKKo4sUBV9qbIQ3qjW0Gt1qZ0yU_EHriT5qhP4ok1i6E_eN9jD6uaEY2vZ8Vep3-7AXILz75G_m41mKXiV2E4WYwWG2LK7HEst-Oe-Nzmf9SWqgfY1JCEfmzBTj2e_0gH7z8O91toIr/s400/DSCF6518.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
For this white one I used the open wide <a href="http://www.noodle-head.com/2012/06/open-wide-zippered-pouch-diy-tutorial.html" target="_blank">tutorial</a> from the <a href="http://www.noodle-head.com/" target="_blank">Noodlehead</a> blog. Awesome tutorial that Meighen and I have used several times already. I used freezer paper to put the "Mrs." on it and added a little bling.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpuWgQia5dZC3JFsp888UtYR-KxdwPfKoi0nLcChB-yFJBGoxVEOyDvesQAGoN4O7f3ImTDA02vEG4Kb06L5uZRVbYVTWIvS9-m6GP68BoODtyc_G6zfC_wuPWTdzPTKJ6bLRzdfQY6-tW/s1600/DSCF6520.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpuWgQia5dZC3JFsp888UtYR-KxdwPfKoi0nLcChB-yFJBGoxVEOyDvesQAGoN4O7f3ImTDA02vEG4Kb06L5uZRVbYVTWIvS9-m6GP68BoODtyc_G6zfC_wuPWTdzPTKJ6bLRzdfQY6-tW/s400/DSCF6520.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I made her a smaller little zipper pouch with a ruffle in her favorite color. I swear it wasn't lopsided like it looks in the picture.... I blame my bad picture taking haha not my bad sewing! I didn't use a tutorial for this one.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
A card holder I found the tutorial <a href="http://craftycupboard.blogspot.ca/2011/03/how-to-business-card-holder.html" target="_blank">here</a> from the blog <a href="http://craftycupboard.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">The Crafty Cupboard</a>. I just recently stumbled upon that blog and its pretty cute.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDw2uYKnbgWyD1Myc9RVzsxyFTZ8BDi3BH0dI-CUFvUPZshJ-ZKrECe5hDPrUmVtKl58tr1TxVIGZ7lhbQF3GuczYWpejsNa7-GMOgoyFP58IUm-R-lK6eRwT6vsVTxR_yCtcTqOhKkGkn/s1600/DSCF6524.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDw2uYKnbgWyD1Myc9RVzsxyFTZ8BDi3BH0dI-CUFvUPZshJ-ZKrECe5hDPrUmVtKl58tr1TxVIGZ7lhbQF3GuczYWpejsNa7-GMOgoyFP58IUm-R-lK6eRwT6vsVTxR_yCtcTqOhKkGkn/s400/DSCF6524.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This was very easy to sew, I wish I had used matching thread instead of just white but anyway, that's how it opens.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMoAyUL3f6i-sWt4Neuxb5pnakZWw-D9xiUU8-xaL5GtJjNcyqBElrx4IP2vehx_35QmRBDsvnHp9sojipMnHE82GB3w3AJrxkzN5PbDSIibxdX48KleqgOuOiGtryWuBAVo-Oiy7C7Dh5/s1600/DSCF6525.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMoAyUL3f6i-sWt4Neuxb5pnakZWw-D9xiUU8-xaL5GtJjNcyqBElrx4IP2vehx_35QmRBDsvnHp9sojipMnHE82GB3w3AJrxkzN5PbDSIibxdX48KleqgOuOiGtryWuBAVo-Oiy7C7Dh5/s400/DSCF6525.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I like to make practical gifts for people so I made these for her because I knew she was about to go on a cruise and who couldn't use pouches for a trip? I really want to make one of those card holders for myself!<br />

Brandi is a Bengals fan and I'm a Browns fan. Today they played each other and I thought what better time to have a big family dinner? I made corn chowder, yeast rolls, and some super yummy pumpkin donuts for dessert! I didn't get very good pictures because we were so engrossed in eating everything that I forgot to stage and photograph! But we had a great day of playing with trains, watching football, eating food, and talking with friends and family.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

If you click on the picture it will take you to the recipe so you can try for yourself!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.atkinsondrive.com/30-minute-yeast-rolls/" target="_blank">These rolls</a> were pretty tasty. They were my first attempt at bread baking without a bread machine and I got quite frustrated with them because the recipe said one thing and what happened was another, but Brandi (my hero) stepped in and said it would be ok and then added more flour and voila! There they are. Thanks B!<br />

This corn chowder was delicious!! It turned out wonderfully! The only thing I did different from the recipe was add bacon because...well...adding bacon to anything makes it better, right? I intended on adding the bacon at the beginning and using the fat to cook the onions and garlic but because it wasn't in the recipe I forgot until after I started boiling the vegetable stock and said 'ahhh! the bacon!!' So I cooked it up in the microwave quickly, then added it in. Next time I make this I'll do it the way I wanted to do it and see if it changes things. <a href="http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/tyler-florence/corn-chowder-recipe/index.html" target="_blank">Tyler Florence recipe - very good!</a><br />

Last up: <a href="http://www.blueeyedbakers.com/home/2011/9/26/petite-pumpkin-spice-donuts.html" target="_blank">pumpkin donuts</a>. I bought a donut pan just for this recipe and my, oh my, am I glad I did!! I am not a big pumpkin fan but figured I'd give these a try. I made them when B was over because she LOVES pumpkin so I wanted to be sure if I hated them, they would be enjoyed by someone else. Turns out: delicious. And easy, to boot! Go on, make some!!<br />

Also this weekend was a bachelorette party for a friend's wedding that I'm in. I was tasked with gathering something snacky to eat before, 2 bottles of wine, and 'a tiara or sash or something'. So I went hunting. I didn't find anything I liked so I made her a veil. The wedding colors are holly green and ivory so I got little flowers to go on top of the headband. Add in a lot of hot glue and some glittery tulle, and you've got yourself a bachelorette veil! Winning!!<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is part one of a series of a few things my daughter Julie and I did together when we had some girl time this weekend. Ever since I started working I don't get as much time with her and it really breaks my heart. When I get off work I am usually too tired to do much playing so I decided to commit this entire day to playing with my little girl! We found these fun ideas on pinterest of course! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is one of the messes we made.</div>

It took me months but I got it done one day before the airshow!<br />

I recently passed the Notary Exam (I work for attorneys so it's a need, really) and wanted something cute to store my notarial supplies in at my desk at work (and so they would be easily transportable if I need them elsewhere) so I found this great <a href="http://www.noodle-head.com/2012/06/open-wide-zippered-pouch-diy-tutorial.html" target="_blank">Noodlehead tutorial</a> (by way of <a href="http://pinkxstitches.blogspot.com/2012/08/wide-open-zipper-pouches.html" target="_blank">Pink Stitches</a>) and decided to cut into my beloved <a href="http://www.hawthornethreads.com/fabric/designer/timeless_treasures_house_designer/london_calling/london_tube_in_multi" target="_blank">London Tube in Multi fabric</a> by Timeless Treasures House Designers to create my new pouch.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp2SHdrR0T2xDueLw3K1U3u281OcakrsbRIqMRshWmISypReulu_5xgrkWIzUr7euj1ZqgeInx1MwuanKNXiwzRCAwgeXRSK1H61NSA4nDDPiXSAt_lTAYgprveHJrKMXstKfYdgR3q_8/s1600/DSC_0001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp2SHdrR0T2xDueLw3K1U3u281OcakrsbRIqMRshWmISypReulu_5xgrkWIzUr7euj1ZqgeInx1MwuanKNXiwzRCAwgeXRSK1H61NSA4nDDPiXSAt_lTAYgprveHJrKMXstKfYdgR3q_8/s640/DSC_0001.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I used a zipper I got from a cheap pack at Joann's. It has adhesive on it and I will not be using another one of these for this kind of pouch. I had to pull the adhesive off the end so I could have that tab part and it was A PAIN. I have a plethora of zippers...somewhere (yes, still unpacking!) and I need to find them to use instead of those. These zippers are great to use for regular zippy pouches, though!<br />
<br />
The art in the background there is a print I won from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/104453896/printable-wall-art-silhouette-created" target="_blank">Bees Knees Design Shop</a>. It's a picture of JJ and the text says "So many of my smiles begin with you." I also used Bees Knees for my <a href="http://globalodyssey.blogspot.com/2011/12/on-fifth-day-of-christmas.html" target="_blank">Christmas Cards</a> (last one in the post) last year. Check out her stuff!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpssA7pi7CB4KC-P16UVH62XxZhKoMTy6E3AbWatLbJXPgw3Qv4Y7tT74S5o0uLtJDIUVNC-UXatzBGGMsrXRT2yRJNqbPgNA8YQAEXPn97K3XZH8qDxuQ3vey1xYAqxJmmOh-mDFBKHM/s1600/DSC_0005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpssA7pi7CB4KC-P16UVH62XxZhKoMTy6E3AbWatLbJXPgw3Qv4Y7tT74S5o0uLtJDIUVNC-UXatzBGGMsrXRT2yRJNqbPgNA8YQAEXPn97K3XZH8qDxuQ3vey1xYAqxJmmOh-mDFBKHM/s640/DSC_0005.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I used yellow and white polka-dots fabric from Joann's. It's leftover from when I made my <a href="http://sewddelicious.blogspot.com.au/2011/09/peggy-skirt-tutorial.html" target="_blank">Peggy Skirt</a> (which didn't work out so well and it's sitting on my table waiting to be fixed). I intended for the dots to be the liner and the map to be the exterior but mussed it up a bit. Maybe it's destiny because I really prefer it this way.<br />
<br />
I plan on making the other two sizes and probably another one this size so I have a full set at home and this little guy for work. I just love that Tube Map fabric!!<br />
<br />

You can use an old (or dollar store) tape measure to make a pop open and close pouch!<br />

Sometimes I feel like they are written in another language or something, so I stayed away. This one was pretty simple and it only took me one night of sewing next to BFF, with her reading me step by step of course!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnBe7z7LsJwW6Mf54Jq88fWRszcZKZYki7t4k4fVH0Z495j5V8fTtyv8OU3KinvbVVGT3_A00ifC-4r-yPaSIwvEkNL0ee0y_x5nxY2JskXAMXXup1STBMskB0zimmlewZ2dP3of1B9nA/s1600/DSCF6256.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnBe7z7LsJwW6Mf54Jq88fWRszcZKZYki7t4k4fVH0Z495j5V8fTtyv8OU3KinvbVVGT3_A00ifC-4r-yPaSIwvEkNL0ee0y_x5nxY2JskXAMXXup1STBMskB0zimmlewZ2dP3of1B9nA/s640/DSCF6256.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I got the fabric for .50 cents a yard at Walmart.<br />

Earl Grey. Hot.I finally finished a number of commissioned projects (that I totally forgot to photograph so I'll do that ASAP and share with you - promise!!) and wanted to make something for myself. I had purchased 10x10 canvasses a while ago for another project but decided I wanted to use 8x10 flat canvasses so they've been sitting here, waiting to be loved.<br />
<br />
It's no secret that I love Star Trek: The Next Generation. I also love tea. Earl Grey, to be exact. I took the phrase that Captain Picard says to the replicator 'Tea. Earl Grey. Hot.' and stenciled it on the canvas and then found a picture (took forever!) of one of the cups they used for tea on the show and put it in the corner (I shaded the back of the paper with pencil then traced over the lines on the front with pencil and pressure and that caused light lines to appear on the canvas - then I painted over them).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/554600_642875041767_2118217963_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/554600_642875041767_2118217963_n.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I love it. Turquoise and slate grey. LOVE!<br />
<br />
It's not perfect, but I love it. I have plans for another arty-tea piece, but need to get cracking on my laundry.<br />
<br />
Hope you all have a great weekend!!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
One of my good friends had a birthday last week and her housemate is out of town for work this week so she invited me over for dinner. I wanted to make her a little bit of cake for dessert so I whipped up this trifle. I'm sure there's a recipe out there similar to it, but I didn't use one other than the recipe for the cake (which I altered slightly). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b><u>Chocolate Chip Whipped Trifle</u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b><u><br /></u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>Ingredients:</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3c whipped cream (or one 8oz container of Cool Whip)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 large (5.1oz) box of Jello Instant Chocolate Pudding</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2.5 c milk</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Chocolate chip cake (recipe to follow)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Chocolate Chip Cake:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1/2c cocoa powder</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1c boiling water</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1 1/3c all purpose flour</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2tsp baking powder</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1/4tsp salt</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1/2c unsalted butter (room temp)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1c sugar</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2 large eggs</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2tsp pure vanilla extract</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1c chocolate chips</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and lightly butter or grease your cake pan (I used my <a href="http://www.pamperedchef.com/ordering/prod_details.tpc?prodId=8751&catId=9&parentCatId=9&outletSubCat=" target="_blank">Pampered Chef Rectangular Baker</a> but any 13x9 pan will do).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In a small bowl stir boiling water and cocoa powder until smooth. Let cool to room temperature.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In another bowl combine flour, baking powder, and salt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In the bowl of your electric mixer (or with a hand mixer), beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating until smooth. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed. Beat in the vanilla and add the flour mixture and beat only until incorporated (I did this in 1/4c increments). Add the cooled cocoa mixture and stir until smooth. Add in chocolate chips. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Pour into baking pan and bake for about 15-20 minutes (checking often). It's done when you can insert and remove a toothpick cleanly.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When the cake is done and completely cooled, cut it up into 1x1 inch cubes (or thereabouts - doesn't have to be exact). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Prepare pudding with the 2.5c milk (use less milk so it's thicker). Combine 1/2 of the pudding with 1/2 of the whipped cream and place a layer of cubed cake on the bottom of your bowl, top with the pudding/whipped cream mixture, place another layer of cake, top with remaining pudding, place another layer of cake, and top with remaining whipped cream.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Chill & enjoy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Trifles are one of my favorite desserts, probably because it originated in the UK. :)</div>

It comes together fast and easy and its unique. I found the tutorial <a href="http://exchangingfire.wordpress.com/2010/08/05/the-origami-lotus-bag-tutorial/" target="_blank">here</a> and I can't wait to make myself one.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixr2OzFawdI2AqyqhHZs4wpHPgqFNUS3RXJtGM8coWk6IvviVg-AcTYi0BP7_ObbKnJJ_CM4AOFsvzSohG3MrOrzGd3V5_1aF8IDN2Ew5ILf6DUL-e-LWiys3Kr80xLYuVREvD-pirJtc/s1600/DSCF6186.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixr2OzFawdI2AqyqhHZs4wpHPgqFNUS3RXJtGM8coWk6IvviVg-AcTYi0BP7_ObbKnJJ_CM4AOFsvzSohG3MrOrzGd3V5_1aF8IDN2Ew5ILf6DUL-e-LWiys3Kr80xLYuVREvD-pirJtc/s640/DSCF6186.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I made the pattern with a pair of pants that fit a tiny bit big, its summer so we aren't wearing many pants so I am hoping these fit for a while.<br />
<br />
I laid the pants on freezer paper, traced them and added seam allowance. Cut the pattern out of the freezer paper and then I can keep that to use in the future. I made this pattern piece only just below the knee and a separate piece for the flared out bottom.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt-siDxoJqbQZTIpTI7TjPNbWz4LZ4hCR1byJqAzeqNhkm-sErB00qC8b_TjX_lg6YREWX3EPluWQX6uTx061ty-_h-1OqrEyh3opzkgkQODaXnsRS-AhlMoRnD2H5zCFfBFIgKYm25Zo/s1600/DSCF6476.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt-siDxoJqbQZTIpTI7TjPNbWz4LZ4hCR1byJqAzeqNhkm-sErB00qC8b_TjX_lg6YREWX3EPluWQX6uTx061ty-_h-1OqrEyh3opzkgkQODaXnsRS-AhlMoRnD2H5zCFfBFIgKYm25Zo/s400/DSCF6476.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
There is my pattern laid out on the fabric. Below is the bottom piece of each pant leg. The top shorter side should be the same size as the bottom of the pants where they meet.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiCOYO6vVofrnX1uMMutSU7nzMZB3W1k7JdsYKoJii3SD93ELQxBorzAbQDMb7ziYZae6lzqAqyqMx-RYeLbAmoepKhlDqRZqCRxlWUqDelsKi3KxbCFRWEw4SMh45-gWAFbEFQVZhA_0/s1600/DSCF6478.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiCOYO6vVofrnX1uMMutSU7nzMZB3W1k7JdsYKoJii3SD93ELQxBorzAbQDMb7ziYZae6lzqAqyqMx-RYeLbAmoepKhlDqRZqCRxlWUqDelsKi3KxbCFRWEw4SMh45-gWAFbEFQVZhA_0/s400/DSCF6478.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Here is how I attached.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3k5WEe40_JfFM75PTse12uzI7rHPlVwCqQZaQZwLiT9gyK7Yb61BUSdGzSHlNDjvCIgOiG9q41CuBJ0dpeBcrc5iTDpSPSSH9C1Pzgq7iOPqXRuTGGA0pURWf7kitv4V5fmPIZYQnRs4/s1600/DSCF6480.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3k5WEe40_JfFM75PTse12uzI7rHPlVwCqQZaQZwLiT9gyK7Yb61BUSdGzSHlNDjvCIgOiG9q41CuBJ0dpeBcrc5iTDpSPSSH9C1Pzgq7iOPqXRuTGGA0pURWf7kitv4V5fmPIZYQnRs4/s400/DSCF6480.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The flared piece inside out, pants right side out and sew around.<br />
<br />
For the waist band you could make a casing and use elastic or do a yoga type like I did, basically cutting a strip of fabric so that its about 1 in shorter than the waist measurement and attaching to the top. I would try them on before adding the waist band just in case you need to add a dart to the back.<br />
<br />
Hem the bottoms and you are done.<br />
<br />

What I mean is, I don't need the thing falling off my shoulder, It cant be heavy, and it should carry just necessities. Summer brings yard sales, zoo trips, and walks all over. I need something that went across my body and could put my keys, wallet and cellphone in easy access while still holding the little ones hand.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWGiCa3P1XLiX4EjN0oVRpCNl9UX5yYryD6AmDE1iJwVgnKiVpuO-4_nSgW2Pg-ADBdbTxtPJvcZiOXu5-X0Rce2h3_nXA7S0nnn2EQ6YznAPe2uiElUGX6uUGSQ1IneEAof2mu-U1Nhw/s1600/DSCF6460.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWGiCa3P1XLiX4EjN0oVRpCNl9UX5yYryD6AmDE1iJwVgnKiVpuO-4_nSgW2Pg-ADBdbTxtPJvcZiOXu5-X0Rce2h3_nXA7S0nnn2EQ6YznAPe2uiElUGX6uUGSQ1IneEAof2mu-U1Nhw/s640/DSCF6460.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
I actually started with a piece of paper, I knew that's about the size I wanted the bag so I took a piece of printer paper and drew out how I wanted to piece together the fabric. I then just cut the strips of fabric to match the shapes I drew on the paper plus some seam allowance.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbHyyJh16r1qOVJvLsn3HLL1IdCs0W9M7A9Qq7qmAagCosWhjgA0RcpatRfqua8OmbqRVtlrklChPgz5R97YV9u_X6jm1keN6hoY3qz1SNRywZVTFtNuGeWHnIXI-5X-4V_9f8QIyG7Q0/s1600/DSCF6461.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbHyyJh16r1qOVJvLsn3HLL1IdCs0W9M7A9Qq7qmAagCosWhjgA0RcpatRfqua8OmbqRVtlrklChPgz5R97YV9u_X6jm1keN6hoY3qz1SNRywZVTFtNuGeWHnIXI-5X-4V_9f8QIyG7Q0/s640/DSCF6461.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
After I had the fabric sewn together I some doily and lace scrap and top stitched them on. I basically made a large zipper pouch and added a long strap. Its that simple I made it in a little over an hour the night before we went to Deer Park.<br />

It has been one year since we started this blog & our shop! We can't believe it's been a year since we started this adventure and we have learned so much in the last 366 days! Tonight we celebrated with cake. :) We made a pink lemonade cake with lemon whipped cream icing. (Brandi will post the recipe later for your cooking adventures.)<br />
